Moving into a furnished flat is quick: collect the keys, unpack your suitcase, done. There are still a few things you should take care of in the first days. This list helps you.
Register your address
Anyone moving into a flat in Germany must register with the citizens' office (Bürgeramt) within two weeks. This also applies to a furnished flat for a limited period.
- book an appointment at the Dresden citizens' office, ideally online
- bring your ID card or passport
- bring the landlord's confirmation (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung) – we hand it to you when you move in
With the registration certificate you can then open a bank account or register with your employer and the authorities.
Internet and TV
Every flat comes with free Wi-Fi. You receive the access details together with the keys. TV is available via satellite or cable, with a wide range of German, English and other language channels. You do not need a contract of your own.
Laundry
Our launderette with washing machines and tumble dryers is in the building. We are happy to show you how it works when you move in.
Keeping an eye on utilities
You pay a monthly advance for electricity, heating, cold and hot water. Once a year we settle the account according to your actual consumption. Thanks to good thermal insulation, costs stay moderate.
Getting around Dresden
Tram lines 7, 8 and 13 stop nearby, and Dresden-Neustadt station is close. For regular journeys a subscription with the Dresden transport company (DVB) or the Deutschlandticket is usually worthwhile.
